Oceanfront-Hawaii.com
is pleased to announce that Coupled-Opinion has joined with us to
provide their winners of this Summer's (2007/8) KONA GOURMAND QUEST
- an independent survey made without disclosure to, or remuneration
from, restaurants visited by "Couples".
The Kona Coast 'the best of the best"
restaurants were chosen on the basis of:
Cuisine - scrumptious and well presented
and locals love it
Ambiance - decor and pleasant dining atmosphere
Service - competence, courtesy and Aloha spirit
"It" - that indefinable something that says: " Excellent,
we'll be back!"
#5 MIXX is the most sophisticated/chic/bar/eatery
on the Island. The elegant furnishing and extensive wine bar alone
make stopping in ‘a must’. Located beside Kailua’s only genuine
wine market the MIXX BISTRO BAR is loved by local residents and
repeat visitors since it provides the perfect meeting place. Live
music most evenings and Jazz on Sundays. 329 7334
#4 Kee'i Cafe up Captain Cook way: About
25 minutes south (Mountain side) on the upper road is a jewel. Clearly
the straightforward presentation translates as: "everything
here is about great food." Don't be put off by the difficult
entry, or that they do not take credit cards. Our COUPLE (s) say
You'll be back.

#3 La Bourgogne French Restaurant: For
locals this is a special place for special evenings of romance,
conversation, intimacy and incredible food. Despite its popularity,
this little fin de siecle eatery maintains its quiet elegance. Your
hosts, Ron and Colleen, consider additions of uniquely prepared
fresh fish to each evening's menu, their contribution to Konas
unique fusion cuisine.

#2 Jackie Reys Ohana Grill : The
short journey up to the old Pottery Terrace will bring
you to one of Konas best kept secrets. This is a genuine da
kin locals eatery. No visit to the Big Island is complete
without a stop at this "virtually-unknown-to-tourists"
cafe. The magic that comes out of the kitchen can only be described
as robust and yummy! And the desserts - double yummy!

#1 Kenichi @ Keauhou shopping center:
Some would say expensive. Our COUPLE(s) called it exquisite. The
food is definitely fusion. Asian/Hawaiian/French are the cuisines
represented here. While the Sushi is cutting edge, the rest of the
menu is superbly flavored "international". Make reservations.
